5X400

Wow, this is the first time I have done this kind of workout. My husband and I started a new training schedule (Hal Higdon intermediate half marathon) I think we probably ran too fast, about 1:30 - 1:45 per 1/4 mile. That was really tough for me. My husband did better, 1:18 - 1:30 per 1/4 mile. I know that is not very fast for some people, but I know I couldn’t keep that pace for very long. I’ve got a long way to go. Does it ever get any easier?

  • Time: 19:30:00

its good to be back

I’ve been in Indonesia for the past 2 weeks. It isn’t possible to run there and I really missed it. Now I am fighting jet lag but was able to go for a slow run tonight with my husband and niece. It felt really good to get out and move. This is the first day of our 12 week trainging schedule (half marathon) I am looking forward to the discipline of training for a goal again.

strength training

Worked out for about an hour, tried to hit all the muscle groups. Started a new training guide this week for a 10K. My husband and my niece are doing it with me. I must admit I feel like I am going backwards, after training for a half marathon and logging so many miles, now I am only running 3 or 4. But it’s all worth it to have my husband and niece running with me, I hope they stick with it. I am also going on a missions trip to Indonesia and will be gone from October 19th - November 1st. When I return I’m hoping we can all start training for another half marathon.

  • Time: 14:00:00
  • Total Time: 1:00:00.00

first half marathon

I did it, I competed my first half marathon (Disneyland) and it was incredible. All the hard work and training paid off. I had a great experience and can’t wait to do it again. My time was 2:24:16 which I know isn’t great but it was great to me. Never having run that far before, I just wanted to finish the race. My body felt pretty good the whole way and the excitement of the crowd kept my energy up. I am a little sore today but oh so happy, the only thing that would have made it better is to have someone in  the race with me. My husband was there in a support roll which he did very well, now I am trying to talk him into running, that would be great.

last run before race day

That was my last run before the race on sunday. It was only 2 miles but it was hard. I think I went out too fast on a slight hill, then I promptly started huffing and puffing. That wasn’t really a confidence booster. I now have two days to sit around and build up some energy. I sure hope I can do it, doubts are starting to plague me. Lord help me!

Long Run (at least for me)

My daughter and I ran on the Santa Monica Boardwalk yesterday for our long run, we managed to run 7 miles without stopping. That was definitely a goal realized, I never thought I could do that. The first 4 miles weren’t too bad but I had to do a lot of praying on the last 3, God is so good to me though, He really got me through with a better overall pace than usual. Today I am pretty worn out, recovery is taking longer as the miles add up.

Run - 0.9 hours - 07/25/2008

Ran 4.5 miles this morning after having two days off (not by choice) I just had too much going on to get out there. I wasn’t prepared for today though, didn’t drink enough water before and really suffered for it. Won’t be making that mistake again. Five more weeks until my race, I hope I can do it.

6 mile run

I’m so excited, I managed to run six miles. I am new running and have been following a training schedule. I have to admit I wasn’t really sure I could do it. If you told me a few months ago that I would be running 16 miles a week I would have told you “you’re crazy” But I really enjoy running.
